Assistant Professor Sofía Pérez-Guzmán was named the recipient of the 2023 Elwood S. Buffa Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Decision Sciences Institute.
This award recognizes exceptional doctoral research in the decision sciences field, covering operations management, information systems, and decision support systems.
Pérez-Guzmán was one of one just two people selected to receive the award.
Dissertations were reviewed through a double-blind process before the Decision Sciences Institute Annual Meeting, evaluating originality, contributions to theory and practice, research design, methodology, and clarity of expression.
Finalists presented their work at the annual meeting, where additional reviewers assessed the work.
Pérez-Guzmán joined the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering faculty in 2023 as part of the Transportation Systems Engineering Group. She earned her PhD from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2022.
