Tenure‐Track Faculty Position: School of Civil and Environmental Engineering

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, announces the opening of a tenure-track faculty position in the area of Environmental Engineering. Faculty candidates are sought in the area of environmental biotechnology and bioprocess engineering, with emphasis on innovative technologies and processes for resource recovery and energy efficiency, advanced sensing approaches for evaluation and control of environmental systems, and related areas. More broadly, we seek candidates whose work contributes to the School’s interdisciplinary, cross-cutting research areas of smart cities, sustainable systems, healthy communities, and resilient infrastructure systems. Further, the School seeks to expand its research and teaching expertise in interdisciplinary areas that address global grand challenges. Preference will be given to candidates at the assistant professor level, but exceptional candidates in any area and at the associate professor or professor level will be considered.  Outstanding candidates will have the opportunity to apply for an endowed early-career professorship.

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Georgia Tech has approximately 660 undergraduate students (220 in Environmental Engineering), 420 graduate students (100 in Environmental Engineering), and 54 tenure-track faculty members (12 in Environmental Engineering). Women comprise 52% of the undergraduate population and 20% of the overall student population identifies as a member of under-represented minority groups.  Fourteen faculty members are women and four faculty members identify as a member under-represented minority groups. The 2020 US News and World Report rankings put the Civil Engineering undergraduate program #2 and Environmental Engineering undergraduate program #4 in the country. Candidates should have completed a doctoral degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field by August 15, 2020, and will have either demonstrated, or shown a clear potential for, creative and independent research that would lead to a strong, extramurally funded research program and national and international recognition. A background check must be completed prior to employment. The successful candidate/s will be expected to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate level.
