Bryan Landry: CEE Development Director

There’s a sense of excitement that seems to follow Bryan Landry, CEE’s new director of development. And it doesn’t have anything to do with the onset of spring weather or landing a new job.

“It’s Georgia Tech,” says Landry, a native of Texas who joined the CEE team on April 2.

“The students, faculty, administrators and alumni all feel a sense of commitment to issues that are larger than themselves. You can sense it when you talk a student who’s just completed a co-op or a faculty who is mentoring a new researcher. There’s a commitment to excellence that goes well beyond the completion of a degree.”

“We were very excited to find someone with Bryan’s energy, conviction and track record,” said Dr. Reginald DesRoches, the Karen and John Huff Chair of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

“Bryan understands the importance of working with all of CEE’s stakeholders to build on the Institute’s reputation.”

Landry comes to the CEE team after successfully building development programs at several other institutions, including Emory University, Louisiana State University, Vanderbilt University Law School and Texas A&M. His interest in the field is very personal.

“As the first in my family to go to college, I know that higher education is a transformative experience. It fundamentally changes the way an individual sees and functions in the world,” he said. “Working in development, I’ve been able to work in a very intimate way with alumni and friends, helping them to find meaningful ways to give back to an institution that has given them a lot. I look forward to continuing that with CEE.”

Since joining the CEE team, Landry has been impressed by the level of support that the Mason Building Renovation Project has garnered among alumni and friends.

“There is more than bricks and mortar in that,” he said, after touring the building last week. “The commitment to our future is obvious and it is very, very impressive.”

Like many CEE faculty and staff, Bryan Landry is located in the Mason Building, Office 1110. You may him directly at bryan.landry@ce.gatech.edu or 404.894.2772.
