Fourth-year civil engineering student Lin Htet Kyaw has won a scholarship from the Simpson Strong-Tie Company to support his last year of undergraduate studies.

Kyaw is one of up to 68 architecture, structural engineering and construction management students across the nation to win $2,000 from the company.

“It means a lot to me, because I've never won a scholarship award before,” said Kyaw, who also serves as co-president for Georgia Tech’s chapter of Chi Epsilon.

“I wanted to see if I was capable of competing with students from all over the country.”

Simpson Strong-Tie established the scholarship to encourage the design and construction of safer structures. The company selects winners based on their academic achievements, demonstrated leadership abilities, and participation in activities on campus and in the community.
