Civil engineering undergraduate Suleman Rana begins his final year of his degree with new support from the Georgia Chapter of the International Concrete Repair Institute and the Georgia Engineering Foundation.

Rana received both scholarships at the end of 2018.

“Georgia Engineering Foundation and ICRI are amazing organizations committed to uplifting young engineers, and I’m truly thankful to them for these generous scholarships,” said Rana, who plans to finish his degree in fall 2019.

The concrete group typically supports just two students who are pursuing degrees in civil engineering or construction.

The Georgia Engineering Foundation awards what it says is the largest pool of scholarships in the Southeast. 2018 winners also included civil engineering undergraduate Jessica Kissel.

Rana said the application process for the scholarships allowed him to measure himself against other top students in Georgia.

“It was an outstanding experience, presenting my achievements in front of the committee through essays and interviews. Plus, I made connections with some of the brightest engineers and industry leaders through the process.”
